This app trains your ear so you can "speak" music as easily as you can speak your native tongue. The benefit of this skill will become apparent when you can quickly play a melody that you "hear" in your head.

Research shows that learning is enhanced when information is conveyed by a playful activity. This app is designed with this in mind. The game format this app uses challenges you to achieve higher and higher proficiency while providing evidence of your continued improvement.

The app consists of four modules that will:
• Teach you the sounds of different intervals
• Develop your aural note identification skills
• Improve your sight reading abilities
• Help you express your musical ideas on your guitar

BASIC EAR TRAINING
All modules of this app train the ear. However, this module focuses on using your voice to train your ear.

Hearing melodies and harmonies in your head and expressing them with an instrument is crucial to the improviser and composer and having a discerning ear will allow you to translate what you hear. Even before you become proficient on the guitar, you can use your voice to train your ear. Not every musician has a great voice but all great musicians can at least sing their ideas out loud. The goal of this module is to sing what you hear inside your head. If you are new to ear training, this module is for you.

RELATIVE PITCH
This module provides the opportunity to test your ear and train it to recognize the characteristic sound of various musical interval makes. The game format allows you to track your progress if you wish.

Relative pitch is the term that describes the ability to discern a note relative to a known note. For instance, if someone were to play a single note, you may not know what that note was but if that person played a note and then told you it was an F then played a second note, you might be better able to guess what that second note was.

PERFECT PITCH
This module provides the opportunity to test your ear even further by providing a single note for you find on the fretboard.

Perfect pitch refers to the ability to hear a single tone and discern its pitch. For instance, if you hear a car horn blare and it sounds like an A# to you, then you probably have perfect pitch. This skill is developed best when a person is very young, but can be developed indirectly by developing relative pitch.

FRET IDENTIFICATION
This module focuses on your ability to associate staff notation and/or note names with the proper fret and string on the fretboard.

Guitarist are notoriously poor at knowing where notes are on their fretboard. The way a guitar is constructed allows guitarist to rely solely on shapes and patterns. A simple capo can be used to transpose from one key to another without the guitarist ever knowing what the notes are of any key. This approach can yield satisfactory results but real artistry on the guitar comes when musicians are more aware of the notes they are playing.
